Tellico Lake Dock Builder
Tellico Lake is TVA’s reservoir on the Little Tennessee River, held back by Tellico Dam near the river’s mouth. TVA built the dam between 1967 and 1979. The reservoir stretches 33 miles along the Little Tennessee River and has 357 miles of shoreline and 15,560 acres of water across Loudon, Blount and Monroe counties. That much shoreline means a wide range of lots, from open main-channel frontage to long, quiet coves. DOCK&DECK designs and builds custom boat docks on both, from Tellico Village and Loudon to Rarity Bay and Vonore.
Building Boat Docks on Tellico Lake
Every Tellico dock starts with the lot. On the main channel, a dock has to handle more wind, open water and boat wake, so we size the pilings, framing and roof structure for that exposure. In a cove, the water is usually calmer, but its width and depth set how far the dock can reach, which way the slips face and how the walkway meets the shore. We measure at your lot and design around what we find, not around a standard plan.
Tellico is also tied to its neighbor. TVA planned Tellico as an extension of Fort Loudoun, and a short canal links the two reservoirs for flood reduction and navigation. Tellico Dam has no generators, but water from Tellico flows through the canal and helps drive the four generating units at Fort Loudoun Dam. The canal also lets barges reach the Little Tennessee River without a lock.
TVA Permits on Tellico Lake
Boat docks and shoreline work on Tellico Lake need a TVA Section 26a permit before construction starts. We prepare and submit your TVA permit paperwork at no charge. You pay TVA’s application fee.
Many Tellico lots sit inside planned communities. Some neighborhoods and jurisdictions require their own approval before a dock can be built. It’s the homeowner’s responsibility to know what their subdivision or jurisdiction requires and to let us know, and we’re glad to assist with any additional permits. In Tellico Village, for example, the POA’s Architectural Control Committee reviews shoreline permits before they go to TVA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and we can handle that application for you.
Shoreline Stabilization
Wakes from passing boats wear away an unprotected bank a little more every season. We install riprap shoreline stabilization, either as part of a new dock project or on its own for a lot that already has a dock.

Our Tellico Lake work below includes two docks in Vonore. One is a covered dock with a dark roof at the end of a rope-railed walkway, with a pontoon on its lift, jet skis on drive-on ports and a covered lounge beside an enclosed storage room. The other is a covered dock with a gray roof and a long railed walkway, with open-sided slips and lifts. It also includes two docks in Tellico Village: a hip-roof dock with a storage room, a boat lift and an open deck, and a cupola-roof dock with an enclosed storage room at the end of a long walkway with rope railings.
Why DOCK&DECK
Our own crew designs and builds every dock, and we’ve built at least six docks inside Rarity Bay alone. We prepare and submit your TVA permit paperwork at no charge. Our office is on Kingston Pike in Knoxville, open Monday through Friday, 8 to 5.

“They completed and submitted our permit paperwork to TVA and quickly got it approved for us. The process was seamless. Taylor was awesome to work with and his crew constructed one of the most stable and beautiful docks on Tellico Lake!”
Questions
Do I need a permit to build a dock on Tellico Lake?
Yes. Boat docks and shoreline work on Tellico Lake need a TVA Section 26a permit before construction starts. We prepare and submit your TVA permit paperwork at no charge. You pay TVA’s application fee.
Do you build docks in Tellico Village, Rarity Bay, Loudon and Vonore?
Yes. All four are part of our regular service area on Tellico Lake, and we’ve built at least six docks inside Rarity Bay. Some neighborhoods and jurisdictions require their own approval before a dock can be built. It’s the homeowner’s responsibility to know what their subdivision or jurisdiction requires and to let us know, and we’re glad to assist with any additional permits.
My cove is deep and narrow. Does that limit the dock?
Usually it shapes the layout more than the size. We measure depth and width at your lot and set the dock’s length and slip orientation to suit.
Is Tellico Lake connected to Fort Loudoun Lake?
Yes. TVA links the two reservoirs with a short canal, and they work together for flood reduction and navigation. The canal also lets barges reach the Little Tennessee River without a lock.
Do you handle shoreline erosion as well as docks?
Yes. We install riprap shoreline stabilization, whether it’s part of a new dock project or on its own for a lot that already has a dock.
Planning a dock on Tellico Lake?
Tell us about your property. We’ll walk the site, talk through options and apply for the TVA permit for you.
