TVA Section 26a Permits for Boat Docks and Shoreline Work

Before we build your boat dock or shoreline project on a TVA lake, it needs a Section 26a permit. The paperwork takes time to get right, so we prepare it and submit it for you as part of your project. We prepare and submit your TVA permit paperwork at no charge. You pay TVA’s application fee.

What Needs a Permit

Boat docks and shoreline work on Fort Loudoun, Tellico, Watts Bar and Melton Hill lakes need a TVA Section 26a permit before construction starts. That includes the new boat docks and the riprap or river rock shoreline stabilization we build. When we add a lift or a roof to your existing dock, the addition can need one too, and we’ll let you know if yours does.

How It Works

  • We gather the details of the dock or shoreline project we’re building for you.
  • We prepare and submit your Section 26a application.
  • We answer TVA’s questions and keep you updated.
  • Once the permit is approved, our own crew builds your project.

Shoreline Work on the Same Permit

Wakes from passing boats wear away an unprotected bank a little more every season. Shoreline stabilization can be permitted together with your dock, so the project goes from plan to finished bank with one team.

Neighborhood Approvals

Some neighborhoods and jurisdictions require their own approval before a dock can be built. It’s the homeowner’s responsibility to know what their subdivision or jurisdiction requires and to let us know, and we’re glad to assist with any additional permits.

Why DOCK&DECK
